We don't promote ourselves as being available for public gigs on demand, but we will consider a request to play "...as long as people don't mind us playin' just like we were sittin' around on a porch on a summer day, just playin' for each other..." Humboldt Country Blue consists of Mike Madsen on guitar, Howard Lang on mandolin, and Don Conness on Banjo. Each of the musicians is primarily a guitar player. In this group, Mike plays guitar and sings lead vocals. Howard plays mandolin and guitar, and Don plays banjo, guitar and resonator slide guitar. Howard and Don do backup vocals, and sometimes sing a lead. Besides getting together on the weekends to entertain ourselves and our families, HCB typically plays background music for occasions such as weddings, barbecues, and fund-raising events, both public and private.
